Pudgy Penguins take over Walmart, Ben Armstrong is arrested while Live Streaming, and Bored Apes Learn to Bathe
It's Martes, and in case you've missed me, here are a few Web3 highlights that have caught my attention. Let's kick things off by saying Happy Nueva Semana to you all, no matter where you are reading this. Plenty has taken place since the last newsletter, but as I always say, this is what stood out most to me. Enjoy!
Pudgy Penguins Enter the Mainstream: A Giant Leap for Web3
Luca has been making waves with Pudgy Penguins. ?? It's common knowledge in the Web3 space, but it needs to be said. A recent surprise was the team's product launch on TikTok Live just last week. ?? Today, the collection has made a groundbreaking announcement – the popular NFT collection is now venturing into uncharted territory by selling its toys at Walmart. ?? This bold move is set to serve as a remarkable bridge for the NFT and Web3 space, opening new doors and alliances with massive players in the brick-and-mortar retail space. ?? With all of the accolades and accomplishments that the Pudgy Penguins team has been banging out as of late, I'm confident that this only the beginning of their ambitious plans. ??
Crypto YouTuber Ben Armstrong's Unexpected Live Stream Arrest
At this point, almost nothing surprises me. That said, this was a first that caught me by surprise. ?? People often underestimate the consequences of being a bad actor in the space, or in general, and sometimes those same people get arrested live and in real time. ??
Yesterday, Ben Armstrong was arrested for loitering during a livestream, and viewers got a front row seat. I haven't been able to find the full clip, but some people have shared small clips of him getting arrested, so I'm sharing them with all of you. ?? Yes it's true, 'influencers' can get arrested too. ??♂?
Memeland's $MEME Token Release Date Announcement
After much anticipation (for some), Memeland has finally announced the release date for their long-awaited $MEME token during their AMA on Monday, September 25th. Many speculate that they felt a sense of urgency, possibly influenced by the massive success of FriendTech, to discuss their token and set a launch date. ??
This feeling is understandable, given the dull quietude in the web3 space. The time is ripe to take action on these initiatives. However, it's crucial not to keep your audience waiting with false promises, even though this collection has a strong track record of successful launches.
BAYC announces collaboration with BAPE
Renowned Japanese clothing brand A BATHING APE or "BAPE" is gearing up to debut their latest streetwear collaboration with Bored Ape Yacht Club at ApeFest Hong Kong.
In my head, the collaboration's called, BORED APES LEARN HOW TO BATHE, in a yacht club, in Hong Kong. I digress.
The collection will be available physically at the event, but here's the exciting part: BAYC holders who can't attend the event in person will still have the opportunity to purchase this collaboration online ??. It's a thoughtful gesture on their part, recognizing that not everyone can make the trip.??
That's all folks! ????
