Publishing a Book?

Good morning my dear LinkedIn Family,
If any of you are considering publishing a book, the following account might be of interest. On May 30th of this year, I sent a query letter to Lisa Hagan, of Lisa Hagan Literary. In the letter, I asked if she would be willing to review a literary novella I'd written entitled The Couch on Queen Street.
I soon received Lisa's polite reply. She told me that she didn't publish fiction, but encouraged me to look elsewhere. I then wrote back and asked her if I could submit a non-fiction manuscript, as I had one that was complete. She replied that I could. Within a couple of days, she reported back and asked me to write a book proposal--something that I hadn't done before. When I told her, she encouraged me to work on a proposal to the best of my ability--she even directed me to a couple of links about the process.
Within a week, Lisa reported that even though she loved my writing, she didn't think I had a platform that would launch a book to the world. She suggested that I try contacting another publisher in California. At the last of the letter, she stated that I could alternately consider publishing through Lisa Hagan Literary.
For me, that was the turning point. Lisa's generosity of spirit shone through. I decided to publish with her company. She wasn't selfishly concerned with herself--she was trying to help others, which is actually the intention of this post. All through the editorial process, Lisa and I worked together, trying to publish the best book that we could. There were many emails, let me tell you. I believe we've been successful, as my book entitled This Taste of Flesh and Bones launched through Amazon on September 8th.
If you have a book within you, you might consider publishing with Lisa and her team.
Kind regards,
Art

4 年Thanks to Lisa Hagan, Richard M. Kiernicki, Patrick van Olphen, Stefano Covello, and Greg Evans for the "likes!" Your kindness means so much! :-)
I hope to get my book completed some day and contact someone like you, Lisa, to consider for possible publication. I have written articles that have been published in magazines and have a hobby book that I wrote and is still available today but my work in crisis response has led to incredible but sometimes very difficult experiences from which I draw from when I travel and speak. Sandy hook, hurricane Katrina, the Sikh temple and Azana spa shootings and most recently my deployment to Kenosha Wisconsin following the shootings and rioting, plus many others. I have written parts in fits and starts but recently found the “glue” to bring it together. Now to make the time...
