The folks at Editor and Publisher have gathered information from 250 premium content providers and 2,000-plus publishing partners and came up with 5 trends for publishers to focus on.?

The first area to focus on is improving viewability. Focus on mobile traffic by optimizing the mobile player and introducing a new video player for AMP.?Publishers have seen less than 2% close-out rates and a 20% increase in mobile revenue by doing this.

Another trend they talk about is embracing affiliate marketing and adding shoppable products based on what is viewed in the video. With this, every purchase made directly from the publisher's website will increase affiliate revenue. The reader gets to buy what they watched leading to a good user experience and both the publisher and the affiliate are happy. Win-Win.?
