The AI battle is on with Chat GPT,?an?AI-powered version of Bing?and other AI tools all storming into the arena. With AI at the forefront, publishers are gradually embracing this new way of writing and producing content. While many editors and writers were initially skeptical, AI has come out as an enabler rather than something that threatens their jobs.?
But all said and done, even if you do ship out content using AI, the taunting question remains - Will Google rank these articles??
Google’s Stand on AI-Generated Content?
It’s interesting how within a year Google seems to have changed its stand?on AI generated content?since it was developing a tool that could detect the same. Cut to 2023, Google is testing?Bard, its own AI chatbot that they aim to integrate with?Google Search.?
Here is what Google has to say regarding AI-generated content begin used-
“Using automation- including AI - to generate content with the primary purpose of manipulating ranking in search results is a violation of our spam policies. This said, it’s important to recognise that not all use of automation, including AI generation, is spam. Automation has long been used to generate helpful content, such as sports scores, weather forecasts, and transcripts. AI has the ability to power new levels of expression and creativity, and to serve as a critical tool to help people create great content for the web.” - Google explained
One thing to remember is that AI can be used to generate content heavy on keywords, manipulating search engines, and these can get you a penalty.
