I’m writing this on the eve my first novel, ‘Fifteen Postcards’, goes live.
My book, my first novel, my precious beast, nurtured by gallons of coffee and thousands of peculiar Google queries. I’ve checked out dozens of books from the library to be scanned for a nugget of useful information. I’ve paid library fines by the dozen, as piles of reference books languished beside my computer, waiting to be dipped into time after time, reluctant as I was to return them to the wild.
Today you can download the eBook version of ‘Fifteen Postcards’. And quite frankly, that’s darn scary! Without the solid guidance of my editor David Powell, you’d be reading a much lesser book, filled with inaccuracies and New Zealand specific slang that slipped through. I cannot stress how thankful I am for his help.
Releasing a book into the ether is equal parts joy, excitement, fear, self doubt, pride (yes, a smidgeon of that) and absolute nervousness about its reception. It’s akin to being the new girl in a class where you know no one, and your classmates are required to write a review on your character.
The physical version of Fifteen Postcards will be available soon. I cannot think of anything more exciting than holding that first copy in my hands, and predict I’ll be engaging in some obsessive level of stroking of the cover, so beautifully designed by the clever people at Accent Press.
Thank you for following me on this journey. Thank you to all my family, friends and followers. Thank you especially to the world of Twitter - some of the most supportive people I’ve had the pleasure to engage with, who have been nothing but supportive, and they deserve kudos for that.
Having said all that, please buy my book, which you can do by clicking on this convenient link -> HERE ;)
Remember, history shapes those who travel through it.
Thank you
