Public-private partnerships are crucial in Denmark’s international work??

Across the Danish foreign service, we work closely with Danish and international companies with an aim of creating welfare, sustainable growth, and a society which promotes both decent working conditions and global trade. ?

Danish companies are often internationally minded, working with global value chains and on global markets. Internationalization has played an important role in securing both value and job creation in Denmark.?

To learn more about the value of this, we have talked to two of our in-house experts: Nikolaj Fredsted , Head of Trade and Thomas J?rgensen , Director North America, Invest in Denmark.

“Access to relevant stakeholders and knowledge of commercial and political processes and regulations are just a few of the elements that are crucial for companies operating on foreign markets. Many companies focus on diversifying their global trade relations and might find themselves in an overwhelming commercial landscape,” says Nikolaj Fredsted and adds:?

“Seeing opportunities within these elements paves the way for businesses to grow, and this is where we can create value for Danish companies: We know the local market, we have access to local stakeholders, we know the local political landscape, and we can link all this to Danish business life”.?

For the Sustainability Summit NYC, we have partnered with a selection of impactful Danish companies to set the stage for dialogue. Ranging from healthcare to energy, these companies represent not just Danish strongholds but also some of the key sectors in the green transition.?

Nikolaj continues:

“The UN General Assembly and the New York Climate Week set the stage perfectly for discussions on how increased collaboration between public and private sector, international organizations, NGOs etc. can accelerate the global green transition.??

Denmark can contribute with know-how, technologies, and solutions. With the Sustainability Summit NYC, we aim to create connections that foster actionable ideas and spotlight sustainable initiatives.”?

The value creation here is not a one-way street - quite the opposite:?

“When Danish companies gain momentum internationally, it also helps grow the ecosystems around them. This in return makes Denmark an attractive place to invest and set up operations for foreign companies. Many foreign companies have done so and foreign owned companies play a crucial role in the Danish economy, employing 21 % of all employees in the private sector and creating a quarter of the overall added value among companies in Denmark,” explains Thomas.?
