PTERA HIGH SPEED DRONE

Our team developed a unique concept for the drone which can fly with high speed. This is achieved by adding to a quadcopter a mobile frame with four smaller auxiliary rotors. Mobile frame consists of a tube, holded by two bearings, on which are mounted auxiliary rotors shifted in opposite direction from the tube. By applying differential speed on the auxiliary motors a torque is create which rotates the frame. The rotation angle is controlled via second IMU mounted on mobile frame. During the takeoff the mobile frame is horizontal which contributes to vertical lift. It can then be turned vertical to accelerate drone horizontally.
