Empowering Through Technology
Solo, 7 November 2023 - An intelligent traffic control system (ITCS) based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) developed by PT Teknologi Karya Digital Nusa Tbk (PT TKDN) helped smooth traffic in the city of Solo during the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup.
The ITCS installed at the Tugu Wisnu Manahan intersection and the Sumber Girimulyo intersection is capable of detecting vehicle buildup in real-time and adjusting traffic light cycle times automatically. This technology makes traffic around the match location smoother, with no significant traffic jams.
Buses that transport U-17 players and official vehicles for the World Cup in Solo also get VIP Green Wave, which is a feature in ITCS where certain vehicles (for example, ambulances, fire trucks, or VVIP cars) get green light priority when passing two intersections in sequence. The ITCS ensures the smooth mobility of players and officials during the event.

"We are very grateful that the ITCS we have developed can help smooth traffic in the city of Solo during the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup," said David Santoso , Main Director of PT TKDN. "This proves that AI technology can solve various societal problems, including traffic jams."
ITCS from PT TKDN uses two AI technologies, namely 5th Generation 3D Digital Twin AI and AI Predictive Modeling. The 5th Generation AI Digital Twin 3D can detect vehicle accumulation when there is a queue at a red light and adjust the traffic light according to the density of vehicle flow at each foot of the intersection. Meanwhile, AI Predictive Modeling is able to predict the level of saturation at an intersection based on historical and actual data.
"We really appreciate the implementation of ITCS from PT TKDN in the city of Solo. This technology has proven to be able to help smooth traffic around the 2023 FIFA U17 World Cup match location. We hope this technology can provide comfort and safety for the people of the city of Solo who use the main roads at this time amidst the event's excitement until the future," concluded Taufik Muhammad S.SiT. T, Head of the Solo City Transportation Service.
