Your money mindset refers to how you think and feel about money. It's kind of like that through which you view your finances. Some people find that money is a means towards freedom and happiness; other people find it something that causes stress and anxiety. That mindset affects how you deal with money, how you make decisions, and how you plan for the future.
I've always been interested in our relationship and attitude towards money as an entrepreneur. It all started when I launched my very first business. So dream and ambitious but pretty clueless as to what I knew, or didn't know, about money. Growing up, the topic of money was taboo in my home. My parents always worked hard but usually financially struggled. Unknowingly, I took on their fears of money, and how I was running my business began to reflect it.
For instance, if I believe that money has to be spent immediately, I might find it hard to save. If I consider money to be the way to secure her future, then saving makes more sense than spending.?
What are Money Habits?
Habits with money can be defined as what somebody repetitively does with his money. They can be good, like setting aside a portion of one's paycheck every month, or bad, like impulsive spending or not budgeting at all.
Every financial decision used to overwhelm me in the early days. Should I invest in better equipment or save every penny? Should I be smart and hire help, or do everything myself? These decisions were paralyzing for me and holding my business back.
I became really aware of my own money behaviors, business and personal. I'd lose sleep over little expenses and then turn around and make some huge, impulsive purchase when stressed. It was a mess, and I knew I had to change.
As I became more and more conscious of your money mindset, it was clear to me how this energy had been influencing my decisions. My lack mentality was leading me astray from growth opportunities. So focused on not losing money, I wasn't making room for earning more. More than anything that might happen on the outside, it's what's going on inside—in the form of your own thoughts about money—that's going to hold your business back.

How to Improve Your Money Mindset and Habits
What are your feelings about money? Do you view it as something that stresses you out, or as something to help you get the things done that you want to do?
Decide what, precisely, you want to do with your money.
Track your income and outlay to get a sense of where the money is going.
Start small—save part of your income or stop making impulse purchases.
I started small, first making decisions based on value rather than purely cost. I started investing in the growth of my business, even when it felt uncomfortable. Slowly but surely, I saw a shift—in my bank account and in my attitude toward money. Old habits would sneak back in from time to time, almost always during the really stressful times. But each time, I caught myself sooner and adjusted my thinking to get back on track.
As my business grew, so was the unfolding mind changes towards money affecting my team. In developing exceptionally fit mindset toward money, my workers turned creative, less afraid of taking calculated risks.
Looking back, the most valuable skill I have learned as an entrepreneur is probably the understanding of the psychology of spending. It's not about making more money; it's a much healthier relationship with finances that has bled into other areas in my life.
