THE PSYCHOLOGIST SHOULD NEVER ALLOW HIS PATIENT TO BE IN ANOTHER THERAPY AT THE SAME TIME THEY ARE WITH THEM!
The psychologist should never allow his patient to be in another therapy with a different therapist at the same time his patient is seeing him. The only exception would be if his patient was seeing a psychiatrist who was prescribing medication. In NO CIRCUMSTANCES should a psychologist see a patient who is having sex with their former psychologist under two years of terminating the therapy. This NEEDS to be "put in the books" as a boundary violation. It probably isn't because the situation hasn't been brought up/or even thought up before!!!
I was the patient in such situation. The primary psychologist should determine why his patient needs another therapist to begin with. In my case, it was my primary psychologist cut my time and I wanted another session (which he flat-out refused to give me). If the primary psychologist cannot meet all of his patients needs then he should help that patient find someone who can, and once they do to release that patient. Having two psychologists is very confusing for the patient.
Taking on the secondary psychologist as your own patient is opening up a can of worms!!! And if that secondary psychologist is unethical and has ended the treatment to immediately engage in a sexual relationship with the patient - well that is downright unethical. Not only unethical but very confusing and traumatic for the patient!!! And to see both of them together as "a couple" for couples counselling??????? That is not only bizarre but harmful, to say the least. The primary psychologist should lose his license just as the secondary psychologist should for having sex with his patient. Too bad Dr. Richard Geist didn't know all the damage he had done. But I think my board complaint will make him take notice.

I can't speak up enough about this. And I will keep writing until the laws in the books are changed!

1 年That's really thought-provoking. I never had an idea things can go that worst when we reach out for help from a psychologist. That's a brow-raising case.
