Did you know that 12% more racial and ethnic minorities live with undiagnosed psoriasis? This condition is more than skin deep, linked to severe health risks like hypertension, obesity, and stroke. Yet stigma persists—54% of Americans say they’d feel uncomfortable dating someone with psoriasis.

We spoke with Takieyah Mathis, a mother, artist, and patient advocate, who shared her journey with psoriasis, the challenges of stigma, and the power of community. Her insights highlight the critical need for education, understanding, and better access to care, especially in underserved communities.
