Prudential launches PruCare24, round the clock medical care for clients.

Your Doctor is just a call away!

LUSAKA, 26th January 2023 –With the advent of Covid-19, access to medical services became riskier and increasingly tedious. In response to this heightened danger, Prudential Life Assurance Zambia, in partnership with iVitals has launched a Telemedicine platform dubbed PruCare24 to provide medical services to their clients through telephone communication.

Worldwide, telemedicine has proven instrumental in the control of the fatal virus. Many governments and healthcare systems have pushed for the use of virtual consultations and digital healthcare technologies as the initial step and main source of assistance for healthcare during the COVID-19 epidemic. Mitigating the spread of COVID-19 is just one of the advantages of telemedicine. Prudential is proud to be answering this global call for more accessible healthcare for our clients.

All Prudential clients with a valid ProMed Smart Card can dial 759 on any mobile network and be able to immediately access medical services. The platfrom is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is managed by highly qualified and specialised medical personnel.

Mr. Milimo Sikoobwe , Senior Manager Health Risk & HCP Liaison and the project lead on the rollout said, “clients can access services such as women’s health, children’s health, men’s health, general medical conditions, as well as emergencies.” He added that the customers can enjoy the added benefits of 24-hour care, comfort and convenience, control of infectious illnesses, easy access to specialists, lower costs, and management of chronic patients.

General Manager for Corporate Business, Mr. Oscar Mofu, Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) , said, “Through this telehealth platform, the vision is to deliver healthcare as well as the transfer of health information across distances using telephone communication. This is possible through our partnership with iVitals who are keen to avail much needed medical services to Prudential Clients regardless of the time or location using devices they have readily available.”

From a strategic perspective, Mr. Kachiza Kwenda , Prudential Life Assurance Zambia CEO had this to say. “We believe it is essential to connect businesses together as we have done partnering with iVitals to bring a service that bridges the gap between medical practitioners and the public. We are advocates of forming lasting relationships that, not only benefit the organisations we work alongside, but also the communities within which we operate.”

Mr Kwenda closed off by saying, “This telehealth program serves as an innovative tool for the delivery of care, linking patients and providers separated by physical and socioeconomic barriers, all the while mitigating workforce shortages or risks associated with COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. With telemedicine, the rising financial burden of disease, chronic conditions, and doctors visits can be significantly reduced. Further, there is higher turnaround for patient diagnosis or treatment due to the flexible nature of the service.”
