The Proxy Wars Need To Stop - A Few Thoughts

Beyond the member nations, as enlisted with the United Nations, there are many Non-State Actors (NSAs) that are operating globally.
They are known by many names. They keep changing names too often to camouflage their existence.
Many of these groups may not be officially recognized by any Government. However, they enjoy patronage from many quarters.
Till recently, the Governments that had been combating cross-border terrorism had no major issues tackling them.
Then suddenly, there emerged suicide bombers.
In 1991, India lost one of its Prime Ministers to such a terror attack.

Today, the situation is much more aggravated.
These NSAs are receiving arms, both conventional, as well as non-conventional. These entities are receiving professional training from some of the best experts.
These entities are much more capable in modern-day warfare.
They are quick to pick up high-technology gadgets and can engage with any powerful official army for a long-drawn battle.
These 'John Rambos' are now being hired across the globe to fight proxy wars. The advantages are manyfold.
No country listed with the UN needs to dirty their hands with blood. They can surreptitiously maintain a steady supply line like arms, logistics, and intelligence.
The low-intensity battles, attacks, terrorizing common citizens across the border, etc., go on.

Till recently, such attacks were happening far away from the comfort zones of the advanced Nations.
If something happens in Asia, why should we worry? One might be thinking.
Not anymore.
Entire Europe has been witnessing many acts of terrorism in the recent past from unknown entities.
The attack on the Twin Towers in the USA was an eye-opener. The USA realized with a jerk, that being geographically separated by two vast oceans on both sides is not a guarantee to safety anymore.

Today, any number of NSAs can be hired for a long-drawn proxy war without dirtying hands.
And, one may also discover, that these NSAs are much more battle-hardened than many official Government Armies.

So, if any nation had grouse against another nation, what is the approach?
Weaken the targeted nation through 'thousand cuts'. Sub-vend the proxy war among many NSAs. The targeted nation shall be weakened out of excessive bleeding!

What happens when Nuclear Weapons are passed on to these NSAs?
The first question that confronts us is, how to transport those Nuclear missiles without getting detected?
That's easy. One submarine can deliver a consignment across the seven seas.
And there are tunnels below the earth's surface, equipped with railroads to transport those on the battlefield.
No Satellite-based surveillance can track that.
That way, the world is at the doorstep of a deadly Nuclear War.
This time, there is a difference. No nation shall own responsibility.

Dear UN Think Tank, stop all kinds of wars including proxy wars.
The world is already closer to a deadly Nuclear War.
Hotspots like Ukraine, Palestine, Kashmir, and many more are polarising the world at rapid speed.
Dear UN Think Tank, you need to strengthen your institutions by broad-basing representations from the member nations.
Conduct more dialogues among nations.
The prevailing dominance of a few powerful nations in major UN affairs needs to stop.
The Proxy War needs to stop.
It is now or never. If delayed further, even the UN may lose relevance.
