?? Innoviris supports VUB and Esperity in developing tools to empower vulnerable COPD patients

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) affects approximately 4% to 5% of the population. Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for COPD, which is a progressive disease leading to increasing respiratory challenges. Management of COPD often involves a combination of medication and physiotherapy.

During this R&D project, we aim to utilize its Esperity Health platform to develop a comprehensive COPD dashboard. This dashboard will educate patients about COPD and their treatments while capturing patient feedback to predict evolution of quality of life and exacerbations. The predictive algorithms will be developed in collaboration with the VUB.

The target population includes especially vulnerable patients, such as those who do not speak the local language of their treatment center or have a vulnerable socioeconomic status. Through this project, we aim to infuse intelligence into its applications and improve accessibility for individuals with low digital literacy.

Thanks Innoviris , Hichem Sahli , Abel Díaz Berenguer , Nikolaos Deligiannis and Vrije Universiteit Brussel for partnering with us in this project!

? Understanding unmet needs of young adolescents with a chronic condition

Young people with one or more chronic severe illnesses face unique challenges. Due to their illness, they experience limitations in daily life, which might reduce their quality of life and autonomy for a long time (or permanently). They are often unable to study, work, or maintain their current employment, risking falling without a dignified income.

We are proud to collaborate with PXL University of Applied Sciences - Expertise Centre for Care Innovation to tackle these challenges. This project aims to understand the impact of chronic and sever disease in adolescents and young adults and their unmet needs. The project is financed by the Belgian Federal Governance Social Security.

???? Empowering Patients with Digestive Cancer

From June 27-29, we participated in the DiCE General Assembly & 9th Annual Masterclass in Munich, Germany. This event was a fantastic opportunity to exchange knowledge and insights with dedicated professionals and patients, all collaborating to maximize the impact in patient advocacy. The diverse, interactive program included innovative hands-on workshops, scientific lectures, and valuable networking opportunities.

During the event, we proudly presented the tool My DiCE Companion .This app, designed by patients for patients, serves as a resource they truly own, providing essential support and guidance in digestive cancer. It helps users find necessary resources, organize their care, and share information with their trusted circle.

We were inspired by the powerful testimonials and valuable suggestions shared at the event, which offered deep insights into enhancing My DiCE Companion. The emphasis on data, AI, and patient ownership underscores the critical areas for advancing the tool’s effectiveness.? A big thanks to Zorana Maravic and Natasha Stephens Münch PhD from Digestive Cancers Europe for trusting us as partners to develop this tool to empower patients with digestive cancer!
