Introducing the Kinvest Venture Partners and Rwanda Correctional Service partnership
We are happy to announce our partnership with Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS) in Bugesera. Our innovative program will combine rehabilitative correctional services with agricultural vocational training and an opportunity for prisoners to earn an income- a first of its kind in Rwanda.
This collaboration will equip inmates with valuable farming skills to foster self-sufficiency, increasing the probability of successful re-integration in their communities.
RCS faces the challenge of persistent re-offending, as inmates have limited options to provide for themselves and their families upon release. Recognizing the need for a solution, RCS and Kinvest collaborated to establish a farm on the premises, allowing inmates to gain agricultural experience and transferable farming skills.

Kinvest will lease and develop over 20 hectares of land at the Rilima Correctional Facility in Bugesera. This investment includes land and soil preparation, bed forming, the installation of solar irrigation, and the construction of a plant nursery.? The main crop will be Birds Eye Chili Peppers for export and beans for domestic consumption.
Through this partnership, nearly 200 inmates will receive fair compensation for their labor, a rarity in most prison systems. They can spend half of their earnings at the on-site grocery store, and the other half will be allocated to an independent savings program and serve as operating capital upon release. Along with offering training in best farming practices, Kinvest will provide financial literacy and leadership courses. These classes will enable inmates to connect their passions with their unique skill sets, equipping them for reintegration into society.
To enhance this program, Kinvest is actively developing partnerships with other organizations that provide services for the inmate's families, further benefiting participants.??
