ProVia Values: Integrity
Our values at ProVia serve as a beacon in guiding our thoughts and our actions, and one of the most important values we adhere to is “Integrity.” We define integrity as “We do the right thing because it is right”, and this is essential because it enables us to fulfill our Purpose: “To let our light shine before others, so that they may see our good works and give glory to our Father who is in heaven.” All of our other values nest within this concept.
Given the importance of this to us as individuals, and as a company, I’ll explain why this is a centerpiece of who we are and what we stand for.
The Right Thing
What is “the right thing” you may ask? To us, doing the right thing means making decisions based on what’s right, not what's more commonly done, or the easiest approach. It can be easy to fall back on the path of least resistance – and this is what people and companies often do – but sometimes choosing what's right may involve a certain amount of friction, or an uphill battle. Our course of action must always follow the right solution that enables us to serve our customers, partners, employees, and community with excellence.
The Counsel of Many
One of the mechanisms we have in place to ensure we’re doing the right thing is what I call the “Counsel of Many.” This means that for any decision of significance we make that decision as a team. At ProVia this often involves our Corporate Leadership Team (CLT), which serves many functions, but an important one is to identify and point out any actions that are not leading down the right path. Each member of the CLT knows that they have the right, the freedom, and the responsibility to hold each other accountable.
Making It Right
It's important to recognize that, because we’re human, we don’t always get it right. When we don’t get it right, we want to make it right. This is part of integrity too, admitting when you’ve been wrong or have wronged someone, and being willing to step up and say “This isn’t right. We want to make it right.”
