Let’s connect if you’re a CEO / Kingdom-minded leader / Christian business owner
I believe that there are certain Bible verses that every #CEO and #leader need to know. The wisdom of the Bible is timeless, and it still works in our world today. Today I want to share with you a few thoughts on Proverbs 3:5-6
As a Christian CEO, leadership is more than just a responsibility; it’s a calling. Proverbs 3:5-6 offers a timeless and transformative principle for leaders who seek to honor God in their work:
Proverbs 3:5-6 states: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

These verses hold the key to successful, God-honoring leadership. The Well Done CEO would be wise to explore how this profound wisdom can guide them in leading their organization with purpose and faith.
1. Trust God’s Plan for Your Business
The verses start with the words, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart." For many CEOs, the weight of decision-making can be overwhelming. The pressure to deliver results, manage teams, and ensure profitability often leads them to rely on their own understanding. Yet, Proverbs reminds CEOs that leadership begins with surrender—placing your full trust in God’s plan, even when you don’t have all the answers.
As a business leader, you are called to cultivate an unwavering trust in God’s faithfulness. This means believing that He is not only aware of your challenges but that He has already prepared a path for you to navigate them. When you trust God with your business, you acknowledge that success is not a product of your intelligence or strategies alone but of God’s sovereign hand guiding your journey.
2. Avoid the Trap of Self-Sufficiency
"Lean not on your own understanding." One of the greatest temptations for any leader is the belief that they can handle things on their own. Leaders are often praised for their skills, intellect, and intuition, but as Christian CEOs, you must be cautious not to idolize your own abilities. Leaning solely on your understanding limits you to the human perspective, but when you seek God’s wisdom, you gain divine insight that transcends what you can see or know. This is why at every CEO Experience Retreat the goal is to hear God's voice for the next decisions on the business.
In business, relying on your understanding may mean missing out on God’s greater vision. Leaders who walk in wisdom realize that the more they surrender their plans to God, the more room they create for His extraordinary purposes to unfold. This requires humility and a willingness to acknowledge that we don’t have it all figured out—and that’s okay because God does.

3. Submit Your Leadership to God’s Direction
"In all your ways submit to him." Submission is not a passive posture but an active, intentional choice. For Christian CEOs, submitting your ways to God means inviting Him into every aspect of your business—your decisions, strategies, and goals. It’s recognizing that your business is not just your endeavor, but a part of God’s Kingdom work.
Submitting to God allows you to lead with a Kingdom mindset, where your decisions are filtered through the lens of faith, ethics, and a desire to honor Him. This might mean prioritizing integrity over profit, valuing people over processes, or pursuing long-term impact over short-term success. When God directs your leadership, you align your business with His eternal purposes.
4. God Will Make Your Path Straight
"And He will make your paths straight." This is the promise that follows our trust and submission. God is faithful to guide you when you trust Him wholeheartedly. A straight path doesn’t mean an easy journey, but it does mean a clear direction. It’s the assurance that when you put your trust in God, He will remove obstacles, provide clarity, and lead you toward His intended outcome.
For a CEO, this straight path may look like God providing unexpected opportunities, opening doors you never considered, or closing doors that were not in line with His will. It may mean peace in the midst of uncertainty and wisdom to navigate complex challenges. God’s promise is that He will direct your steps, and as you trust Him, your leadership will reflect His guiding hand.
One More Second Step Comment
Proverbs 3:5-6 is not just a comforting verse for Christian CEOs; it’s a blueprint for leadership. As you navigate the complexities of running a business, this passage calls you to trust in God’s faithfulness, lean on His wisdom, submit to His direction, and allow Him to make your paths straight.
Leading with trust and submission transforms the way you approach your role. You move from a place of striving to a place of surrender, from anxiety to peace, and from uncertainty to divine assurance. God is not just interested in your business’s success; He is invested in using it for His Kingdom purposes. As you trust Him, He will not only guide you but lead your business into paths of impact and significance far beyond what you could imagine.
