PROVE THEM WRONG

Oh boy how did I miss weekend learning this week? So much happened and yes, I was able to get that Pernil on the rotisserie if you were wondering and following. It was so incredibly nice to decompress and just be w/ the family. We ate, drank, played darts, went boating, fished a little…. you know all the things we all just need. It is good for the heart & soul!

This week I meant to post this blog several times. I rewrote it several times…. well I rewrote it & saved it under a few different names for future use…. do not want all those good thoughts to go to waste you know?

But this morning I figured out what I needed to speak about today. It is quite simple. It is a thought that runs through my head every single day. Not just for myself but for my team, my family, my kids, my everything that matters. That statement…. drum roll plz……

PROVE THEM WRONG

Yup that is it…. if you are interested you can get a band for your wrist at Deuce Brands. Thick white w/ black text band that simply states, “PROVE THEM WRONG” and in your head you can add the “!”.

Why this morning? Well I am glad you ask. This week was challenging. It was a week where I am pretty sure I was supposed to fail. I was supposed to not be able to accomplish what was being asked of me. Whether or not those things were fair or not really did not matter. Whether or not I was singled out, targeted whatever term you want to use…. DOESN’T MATTER. All that matters was I knew, and we should all learn to know when you need to PROVE THEM WRONG. 

You do not have to talk about it. Complain about it or even look those people in the eyes and say “dude…chill out…. it’s all good.” With a smile of course. You just PROVE THEM WRONG.

How do you PROVE THEM WRONG? By putting in the work and getting the job done. You are the leader. You are the one that is supposed to pull the resources, people, data together to accomplish whatever it is that they thought you would not accomplish. Imagine that and take a moment to think about the last time you had to PROVE THEM WRONG. What was it and share it w/ me here….?

Was is work related? Maybe you were young, and they said you could not score or hit the ball or make the team. Remember that Michael Jordan guy? Well he got cut from his High School basketball team…. wait what???? I cannot even believe I wrote that, and it is true but guess what he did? Yup you named it…. he proved everyone wrong and just went on to win title after title after title. Certainly, as a Chicagoland kid (shout out to Kankakee, IL by way of Humacao, PR) I was disappointed w/ the baseball thing as I really wanted 8 titles growing up but that is neither here nor there. 

So that is its folks. Keep telling yourself that and do not let these people bog you down. Accept the challenges they put in front of you and just kill it. Be cunning, be wise but most importantly be yourself. Do not let them suck you down to their level as they try to prove you wrong. Be kind and effective in everything you do. You will set an example for not only yourself but for your people. They know what is going on, but they see that you will not crumble therefore they will not crumble. They will rise to the occasion and help you deliver and Prove Them Wrong!
