Proud of my daughter raising money for an orphanage in Vietnam...
This is my daughter Lilia Cheikh launching a campaign to collect funds for an orphanage where she is working. She arrived in Ho Chi Minh City 2 weeks ago, was shocked by the living conditions of the children there and decided to act. I can only be so proud and share her call to raise money.
Her own words:
Recently, I have been working in two orphanages in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to share my love and affection to these beautiful children.
One of the orphanages particularly caught my attention as I got to see how rudimentary the environment in which they live in is. There are about 70 kids in this orphanage aged 0 to 18 years old, all boys and girls. The volunteers and I take care of the newborns until 5 year old kids. Their living conditions are very rough and disabling. They play, eat and sleep within a 9x4 room. They have very few toys (if you can call them toys), sleep on the floor, own very few clothes and often eat expired food.
I am creating this “pot commun” to collect money from friends, family and acquaintances where I will be able to buy them basic supplies such as mattresses, pillows, blankets, toys, medicines, diapers and clothes.
It would genuinely mean the world to these children if you could donate money (even 1$ would be great). I promise you that the children and I will forever be grateful of your thoughtful and generous gesture.
