A proud moment for the Canadian start-up community – 2021 Emmy Technology Award
SeaWell Networks, a start-up with its roots in Toronto (Mississauga), Canada, who was acquired by ARRIS (now CommScope) won a 2021 Emmy Technology Award for pioneering a new category of products to provide targeted advertising for internet scale video streaming in cooperation with Time Warner (now Charter).
As parents (or co-founders), we nurture our young children (or ideas), then they leave home, with the hope they grow, prosper and succeed. The same journey is true for a start-up company.
As a Canadian, it is great to see our technology gain international recognition. I hope it gives young entrepreneurs, the strength, courage and inspiration to be a co-founder of a start-up, with its roller-coaster ride of joys, rough patches, excellent teams and fun!
I would like to spotlight the unsung heroes who did the very early exploratory work: Robert Myers (SeaWell CTO/Co-founder), Jaspreet Sachdev (SeaWell software development) and Vipul Patel (Time Warner Cable now Charter). No win is accomplished without an amazing SeaWell team to turn a prototype into production (Ram Ranganathan, SeaWell VP Engineering), along with the continued support and commitment of CommScope. Special thanks to Andrew Harrison (now in a leadership role at X, (GoogleX) who had the insight to invest a VC seed round in 2 co-founders with a vision, passion, and a few (ugly coloured) PowerPoint charts!

3 年Congrats to you and Bob and team! Such a great validation of your hard work and vision! I remember back in the 90’s at Nortel that you both had such vision and determination. Nice to have the recognition.
