Effi Gounaris
Nokia- Winner of Women In Tech Employer Awards- Best In-house Recruiter - Diversity, Equity & Inclusion - Women in Tech
“Behind every successful woman is someone who believes in her, who has the confidence that she can achieve her dreams. That person is herself”
Anyone who knows me knows that I love my job, I have a passion for people and a fire in my belly that drives me to make a difference. What lights that fire? WOMEN! Women in technology , women in leadership, women with ambition, women with talent, women who deserve a fair chance to live their best life doing what they love.
Just over 10 months ago, after 12 years as an agency recruiter, I took a big step into the corporate world and joined Nokia as a Talent Acquisition Executive Search Manager.
I did not know what to expect but I dived in, head first and I was welcomed by an army of professionals that champion diversity. I was stunned! After just a few weeks at Nokia I soon realized that diversity was not just an initiative, not just a set of ambitious KPI’s but instead a way of life!
This passion for women in technology and women in leadership met me everywhere I turned my head. In our leadership team, in our technology professionals, in our customers and in our culture. It was INSPIRING!
So I set off, in my new role within this huge organization, with a bag full of inspiration and our Nokia essentials at the forefront of my mind ‘OPEN, FEARLESS, EMPOWERED’

Fast forward 10 months and WOW! Nokia has opened my mind to the endless opportunities that exist both inside and outside of our business to make a difference to diversity, to women in technology and to women in leadership. That fire in my belly is now a full blown bonfire and everywhere I turn there is a person or a group of people ready and willing to keep the fire burning.
Thanks to my manager Lokesh Kariappa , my peers and my collaboration with our incredible DE&I team Anneli Karlstedt (she/her) Burcu D?nmez (she/her) , I have been a part of some pretty awesome initiatives; Non Optional Diverse Interview Panels, delivering training on Unconscious Bias, being responsible for hiring six female executives, ensuring equal representation of female talent in executive shortlists, just to name a few. AND THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING!

As you can tell by the name (Effi short for Eftihia) I come from a Big Fat Greek Family and with that Big Fat Greek Family comes Big Fat Greek expectations to be a great wife, an even better mother and make a mean Moussaka! I do all of the above ?? but in addition I have been given the opportunity by Nokia to make a Big Fat difference to WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGY and I will not disappoint.

1 年Congratulation Effi. Having been blessed with 5 sisters and 2 brothers I know how it feels living in a family with more women than men. But I mostly was comfortable with this and I am happy that I work for a company where this women-supportive Society is possible. BR RAW ??
Well done Effi!!
