Proud to Belong: Quyen Thoi, Product Manager

Today, we had the pleasure of chatting with Quyen Thoi , one of our amazing Product Managers who has been with Nuix for just over four years.?

So Quyen, it's fascinating to hear about your career journey that eventually led you to become a Product Manager at Nuix. Starting with a business marketing degree, you initially worked in the Marketing team, supporting Sales at a software company in the healthcare industry. It seems like from the very beginning, you had a strong interest in the technology the company was building.?

That's right. After my time in marketing, I transitioned to a role as a business analyst on the technical side. I spent 2-3 years in that position, gaining valuable experience. However, I’ve always been a curious person, and it was during this time that I discovered the world of product management. The idea of being able to delve into diverse projects and continuously learn really appealed to me.???

What I love about being a Product Manager is the ever-evolving nature of the job. In my role, it’s critical that I stay informed about market trends and advancements, particularly in data, to ensure that our products remain competitive. It's remarkable to think about the transformation we've witnessed in a relatively short span of time. We've moved from physical paper files and floppy discs to USBs, laptop computers, and the advent of cloud storage. Now, we're even leveraging the power of AI to eNuixance data intelligence.?

This continuous learning and adaptation keeps me engaged and excited in my role. I thrive on the challenge of understanding what's out there and integrating new ideas and technologies into the products we build.?

You’ve been with Nuix for over four years now, what’s a project or initiative you’ve worked on that you're particularly proud of??

I’d have to say the work we've done to ensure that we maintain the best Microsoft 365 connector on the market. As Microsoft's policies and data are constantly evolving, it's crucial for us to stay relevant with their updates. Microsoft is the leading productivity tool used by companies worldwide, so it's our responsibility to ensure that our clients and customers receive leading-edge features and capabilities to power their roles in support of their organizations as forces for good. Keeping track of everything Microsoft does and incorporating it into our product is a challenging task in itself, but it's something I'm proud to say I lead.?

In recent months, I have also started to support our latest vision in delivering targeted solutions, particularly our Data Privacy Solution, for our customers. This being the first time putting together a solution, I feel so highly challenged yet super motivated to solve our customers’ problems in a way that’s simple, intuitive, and performant. What we’ve pulled together so far, while in the early stages, is the beginning of something I know I’ll be proud of because I do believe it will become the backbone for many future solutions to come.?

It's clear that you have a strong passion for your work and for Nuix. Can you share why you enjoy working at Nuix??

There are a few key aspects that make Nuix a great place to work for me. Firstly, the market we serve, which includes forensic investigation, eDiscovery, and data privacy, is incredibly interesting to me. These areas present complex challenges that require innovative solutions. I believe Nuix has some of the best products on the market to address these challenges, and being part of a company that is at the forefront of solving these problems is both exciting and fulfilling.?

Secondly, Nuix is undergoing a transformative phase, where we are renewing and refreshing ourselves. It feels like we're on the cusp of a transformation, much like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon. This sense of growth and potential is invigorating, and I'm proud to be a part of Nuix during this exciting time.?

Furthermore, working at Nuix allows me to make a significant impact. Despite being a relatively small organization, I have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and am surrounded by colleagues who constantly challenge me to think and perform at my best. This collaborative and stimulating environment encourages me to continuously improve and strategize, ensuring that I can deliver better outcomes for our customers. Being able to solve complex problems and create better solutions for our customers is truly rewarding and keeps me excited about my work at Nuix.??

What’s the best advice you've received throughout your career??

The best advice I received was not to be afraid to try. As a woman, I sometimes found myself hesitating and questioning my readiness for certain opportunities. I would often wonder if I was truly prepared for a role or a challenging presentation. However, someone once told me, "If you don't try, how will you ever know?" This advice struck a chord with me because it highlighted the importance of taking action and embracing new experiences.?

The advice encouraged me to push past my uncertainties and step out of my comfort zone. It made me realize that I could never truly gauge my abilities or potential if I didn't take those leaps of faith. It's through trying and taking on challenges that we truly understand what we're capable of. So, I've adopted the mindset of a leaper. I take leaps of faith and am always willing to embrace opportunities and trust in my ability to learn and grow along the way.?

It sounds like you have some interesting hobbies and enjoy exploring new experiences. What do you like to do in your spare time??

I have a passion for teaching and practicing Pilates. It's a form of exercise that I truly love and find both physically and mentally rejuvenating. It allows me to unwind and focus on my well-being. Additionally, I have a deep love for travel and exploring new places. Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Napa Valley, despite not being a wine person, and I was captivated by its beauty. It reminded me of the joy I find in discovering new destinations and experiencing different cultures.?

Overall, I strive to embrace new adventures, savor unique experiences, and cherish the moments spent with loved ones. These activities bring me joy and allow me to recharge and appreciate the wonders of life.?
