The protection of copyright in UAE law is a vital topic that reflects the country's commitment to promoting creativity and innovation. Copyright is organized under Federal Law No. 38 of 2021, which encompasses Copyright and Related Rights, and Cabinet Decision No. 47 of 2022 on the Implementing Regulations of the Federal Law No. 38 of 2021 (the “Regulations”). The Regulations Is issued in line with the UAE’s World Intellectual Property Organisation commitments.?
This law grants authors exclusive rights related to their works, such as the rights to copy, distribute, display, and translate. The protection of copyright in the UAE lasts for 50 years after the author’s death, ensuring continued protection of their works. Additionally, the law imposes penalties for copyright infringement, which can include fines and imprisonment.?
The law also includes mechanisms for resolving disputes related to copyright, making it easier for authors to recover and protect their rights. The UAE continually seeks to enhance a culture of respect for intellectual property rights through effective awareness campaigns and legal initiatives.
Thus, UAE law provides a strong framework for the protection of copyright, fostering a creative environment and stimulating the arts and culture in the country.?????
