Rethinking Acceleration: Move Toward Calmness

Rethinking Acceleration: Move Toward Calmness

While the name of this newsletter (#Accelerate) references a kind of reckless abandon and wild terminal velocity, like a sort of free fall where weights are added every few hundred feet, this doesn't necessarily have to be the dominant accelerationist mode. Instead, one could be moving faster and freer toward calmness, control, and preservation than previously.

It's our conditioning to think otherwise.

Once we redirect it, reimagine things a bit, this concept starts to work for us and importantly, for our nervous system.

Some of the most advanced MBA-level strategies and game theory postulations come from (or are inspired by) the human nervous system, a base-level of reality that needs nurturing and rest. It is especially important during times of crisis, where a great deal of uncertainty abounds.

I jokingly send TikTok videos like this one to my business partner and we have a laugh that clients don't know the lengths we go through to prepare, condition, and regulate emotions while performing on stressful productions. It's essential, just as meeting a deliverable and timetable is essential.

If you only take one thing away from this article, let it be that acceleration doesn't have to be synonymous with burnout and exhaustion.

Take a breather - The ROI will still be there.

For every dollar spent on mental health treatment and support, there is a return of $4 dollars in improved health and productivity.

Lastly, if you're interested in insights like the above, or are generally curious about trends in wellness arenas, healthcare, and more, I've launched a new market research company called Uppercentile . It's made for 2023 issues and data. Follows are appreciated!
