Championing Climate Action
Samuel Mue , a Strathmore University International Relations alumnus, graduated with first-class honors and received the Vice Chancellor’s Award in 2023. As the 13th Vice President of the Student Council and the 22nd Secretary General of the Kenya Model United Nations, Samuel showcased exceptional leadership. His commitment to climate action began during his university years and continues to drive his impactful initiatives.
Samuel’s work with the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Youth and his role in the Africa Youth Climate Assembly highlight his dedication to involving youth in sustainable policy-making. He played a pivotal role at COP 28, advocating for young people as climate change solution-makers. Samuel also emphasizes integrating tree planting into school curriculums and creating green job opportunities for youth. Now, as Executive Director of Kenya Ni Mimi, he empowers young people to drive societal change through collective action and innovation.
Inspiring Accounting Journey
Flachia Njagi love for accounting began in high school, leading to a scholarship at Strathmore University for CPA studies. There, she met her mentor, Dr. James McFie , who encouraged her to pursue a degree at Strathmore despite financial challenges. She applied for a scholarship and was accepted.
Her first internship at Ernest and Martins Associates boosted her confidence and set her on a successful path. After graduating in 2016, Flachia worked in Kenya, then moved to PWC and PKF in Rwanda, eventually landing at Deloitte in London. She remains an active member of the Strathmore UK Alumni Chapter and continues to cherish her Stratizen identity.

Bachelor of Business Science Clocks a Decade
What lies in a decade? For Strathmore University’s Bachelor of Business Science (BBS) program at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (SIMS), it has meant growth, innovation and countless success stories. Over the past ten years, BBS has shaped bright minds and future innovators, empowering business leaders and showcasing a dedication to transformative education.
This milestone was celebrated on May 31st, 2024, when ten cohorts of BBS graduates gathered at the Golden Tulip in Nairobi. Nearly 200 alumni, dressed to impress, reconnected and shared their growth, achievements and challenges. Dr. Julius Kipngetich , Group CEO of JUBILEE HOLDINGS LIMITED , delivered an inspiring address emphasizing the crucial role of alumni and the immense potential of Africa’s young population in shaping the continent’s destiny.
Fostering Connections at the Northstar Mentorship Program Networking Mixer
The SU Alumni Northstar Mentoring Program emerged from the passion and dedication of Strathmore University alumni committed to mentorship. Among these dedicated individuals is Rogers Githinji , who has volunteered to mentor young alumni on professional ethics and international opportunities post-graduation. Cheptum Toroitich , another enthusiastic alumna, shares her positive experience with the program in this article.
On the evening of May 24, 2024, the atmosphere was electric at Masai Mara Café, Strathmore Business School. Alumni, both seasoned professionals and recent graduates, gathered to reconnect and forge new relationships. Comments like, “I am so ready to be mentored today,†and “This is such a thoughtful event,†echoed throughout the venue.
The event featured speeches from Elias Kaburu , Director of Alumni Relations and Dr Edward Mungai gai, Deputy Vice Chancellor. They highlighted the significance of the Northstar program and the importance of alumni giving back to the community. Dr. Caesar J.Muriithi Mwangi inspired attendees with his thoughts on mentorship, emphasizing ethics, integrity, and trust.

The 4th Annual Vice Chancellor’s Run: A Journey of Impact
