Protecting a Billion IoT Things: How To & Next Steps

Protecting a Billion IoT Things: How To & Next Steps

We announced a fair milestone today, having helped protect over a Billion Internet of Things (IoT) devices.  For tips & tricks embedding security into things ranging from TVs and critical infrastructure, to devices the size of a thumbnail or smaller, check out our vendor neutral "IoT Security Reference Architecture" at https://www.symantec.com/iot or our video at https://bcove.me/98jkbj4e

Second, as lives now depend on security of cars, and having signed a few top car makers as embedded security customers last quarter, today we also released a  white paper on automotive security on embedding security into cars & trucks.

Whether protecting vehicles, or sand-grain sized sensors and micro-controllers salted into concrete, we believe effective security can be composed from a few simple elements.  No silver bullets.  Attackers exploit the weakest link.  However, security built on a solid, simple combination of strong authentication, and embedded endpoint protection with effective monitoring & management often proves effective, even against surprisingly sophisticated attackers.
