The whole world is experiencing the ravages of the new coronavirus. To clarify how you protect yourself, the WHO has issued a Myth buster for all of us to enlighten us once and for all. These are only my selection but if you want to see all the listings, you will find the link below. Here are the 8 MYTH BUSTERS (Coronavirus):

TRUTH: Yes, it is safe. People receiving packages from China are not at risk of contracting the new coronavirus.?From the previous analysis, we know coronavirus does not survive long on objects, such as letters or packages.

TRUTH: Taking a hot bath will not prevent you from catching Covid-19. Your normal body temp remains 36.5oC to 37oC, regardless of the temperature of your bath or shower.

TRUTH: No. Spraying alcohol or chlorine all over your body will not kill viruses that have already entered your body. Spraying such substances can be harmful to clothes or mucous membranes (i.e., eyes, mouth) Be aware that both alcohol and chlorine can be useful to disinfect surface, but they need to be used under appropriate recommendations.

TRUTH: Some mouthwash brands can eliminate certain microbes in the saliva in your mouth for a few minutes, but it will not protect you from becoming infected with the new coronavirus.

TRUTH: Garlic is a healthy food that may have some antimicrobial properties. However, there is no evidence from the current outbreak that eating garlic has protected people from the new coronavirus.

TRUTH: From the evidence so far, the new coronavirus can be transmitted in ALL AREAS, including areas with hot and humid weather. Regardless of climate, adopt protective measure if you live in, or travel to an area reporting COVID-19

TRUTH: There is no evidence to suggest pets such as cats and dogs can be infected with or transmit the coronavirus. It’s a good idea to wash your hands with soap and water after touching pets.

TRUTH: To date, there has been no information, not evidence to suggest that the new coronavirus could be transmitted by mosquitoes.?The new coronavirus is a respiratory virus which spreads primarily through droplets generated when an infected person coughs or sneezes, or through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose.

Protect yourself, clean your hands frequently. Eliminate viruses that may be on your hands and avoid infection that could occur by then touching your eyes, mouth, and nose.
