Protect your Personal Data
We live in the age of technology and not everyone has good intentions. There are numerous scams going on daily, this can potentially place your personal data at risk. The recent Equifax security breach also places us at risk. Things to do when you get harassing calls about your personal data being compromised are:
- File a Police Report.
- Contact the FTC and file a report.
- Place a Fraud Alert on your credit report.
- Freeze credit so no one can open accounts in your name.
- Check your credit regularly.
- Be sure your addresses are correct on your credit report and file a dispute.
- File a fraud affidavit with the IRS if it is related to your social security number.
- Get a credit monitoring account to be contacted for changes in credit with id verification required.
- Proactively dispute any data for inaccuracy to protect yourself.
- Lock your personal data up at home and keep personal data safe.
I recently have been getting harassing calls about my social security number. Some of these are robo calls, with is a violation of the FTC. Ask to stop being contacted. Legitimate businesses will honor the do not contact request. We live in desperate times with technology, the pandemic and criminals lurking on the internet to steal your data. Protect yourself, your assets and your future.
