Prosperity Day 2018 - Thank you!
Four years ago we took a risk, to run an event - Prosperity Day - which had critical dependencies on power, WiFi, technology and most importantly, the local business community. This year, together, we have raised over £20,000 for two great charities...
Running an event which is dependant upon many external factors is risky (to say the least) but the support and camaraderie of the local business community in Jersey never fails to amaze me. The enthusiasm of the cyclists, the dedication of our colleagues at Prosperity 24.7 and of course, the support of the public and participants colleagues who so kindly (and generously) donate, mean that our little event has now raised in excess of £70,000 in just four years.
On behalf of the charities, we have to say a massive 'Thank you' to everyone involved.
This year we were honoured to support the British Heart Foundation - Jersey Appeal as well as Jersey Cheshire Home - these great charities, as it stands, will each receive a cheque for over £10,000 each. I am however being intentionally loose here as we are still waiting on the incredible fund raising activities of three participating businesses so this should increase from £20,247 to something even better!
For those who have not seen the event, it is quite simple (he says) - three teams of competing businesses going #HeadtoHeadtoHead on bicycles attached to turbo trainers which enables a realistic (and incredibly tough) virtual experience of cycling up a stage of the Tour de France (thank you Bkool for your excellent technology).
It is a huge amount of fun, but it is ultimately for a very serious reason why we do this, take young 13 year old Jayden Corley for example. Jayden was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a form of Congenital Heart Defect, making open heart surgery and multiple other procedures essential to keep him alive.
Despite being limited in the types of exercise he can undertake following recent surgery, Jayden jumped at the opportunity to get on the bike this morning in preparation for future fundraising challenges he has planned in support of @BHFJersey, who in Jayden’s own words, “helped save my life.”
All at Prosperity 24.7 are supremely proud of Jayden for his will to get back to full fitness whilst supporting immensely worthy charities in the process. We hope you enjoyed your time with us and hope to support your fund raising activities later in 2018 in Hope Street, St Helier.
For the corporate participants this is why we do this, to make a difference in the most positive way, to you all we must say "Thank you" to the teams from: Prosperity 24.7, British Heart Foundation, Jersey Cheshire Home, Fitness First Jersey, Club Soulgenic, Sure Jersey, Ogier, LGL Trustees, Appleby, Rossborough Insurance - Jersey, HSBC Bank, Barlcays Bank, Grant Thornton Channel Islands, PWC CI, KPMG Channel Islands, R&H Fund Sevrices, JTC Group and of course, the incredibly supportive team from Camerons.
Of course, we could not achieve such a slick event on our own so as well as the incredible efforts and support of our colleagues, we must also thank Big Maggys Coffee & Bike Shop, Barannes Health Store, Coffee & Juice Bar, Le Petit Café (for essential power) as well as both JT & Sure for WiFi access (and many more...)
Prosperity Day gets bigger and better year on year so we are over the moon to say we will be bringing it back again next year - so don't forget to like our Facebook page and our new look website, to ensure you don't miss out on the 2019 early bird registration!
