Prosper Highlights 2024
The contribution our members make to shaping a sustainable and profitable economy was acknowledged by the First Minister, who paid tribute to our unique mission and value in his maiden speech on the economy. As Scotland’s Industrial Council, the renewed focus from both governments on industrial strategy is hugely welcome and will remain a priority in the coming year.
Informing parties thinking on what’s needed to grow Scotland’s economy will be our focus for the coming year ahead of the Holyrood elections and we look forward to working with you on our Blueprint.

Calling our Healthy Working People report ‘pioneering’, the Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes MSP worked with us to action the priorities set out in our Healthy Working People report.
Our Scottish Budget representation helped to secure the reinstatement of housing funding, with a 56% boost to the budget including a 38% increase in the Affordable Housing Supply Programme.
Our General Election manifesto has informed our proposals for how the new UK Industrial Strategy will support the sectoral strengths of the Scottish economy and grow innovation clusters in Scotland.
Our work on rural housing and planning reform is influencing the creation of a Housing Planning Hub to streamline planning and proposals to accelerate electricity grid infrastructure consents.
