Ever since ChatGPT’s release in November, AI has been a huge topic of conversation. How can it help us? Will it hurt us? Will it take our jobs? Will it make our jobs much easier?
We’ve barely scratched the surface of what AI is capable of, but we do know that we can recommend (and NOT recommend!) a few of its uses.
How can AI help (or hurt!) when it comes to presentations??
AI can search through massive amounts of data.
PRO: One way that we know AI can be helpful is the vast amounts of data that it is able to research and analyse. It can identify trends and extract key points in a fraction of the time it would take us.
CON: AI is not always accurate! When asked, “When did The New York Times first report on ‘artificial intelligence’?” ChatGPT responded with a July 1956 article titled “Machines Will Be Capable of Learning, Solving Problems, Scientists Predict” about a conference at Dartmouth College, which did happen. However, the article does not exist. This kind of misinformation would not look good in your presentation!
Our suggestion: Take any information you get from AI with a grain of salt, and be sure to fact check!

AI can write your script!
PRO: ChatGPT has been a godsend for people who struggle with writing. It can do anything from a Taylor Swift song in the style of Shakespeare to a presentation outline in multiple languages. You name it! It can even help you with delivering your speech, providing real-time feedback on the content and pace of your presentation.
CON: AI doesn’t understand emotions or context. It has no personal stories to draw from, which are how we connect with our audiences. Because it doesn’t understand context, it may miss important subtleties that human presenters would be able to pick up on. It does not know how to foster empathy with your audience, why they might feel a certain way, or what to do based on emotional responses.
Our suggestion: For the parts of writing that you find most difficult, use AI as a jumping off point. But always keep in mind that what makes your presentation special is your unique perspective.
AI can’t deliver your presentation for you!
PRO: You get an opportunity to stand up in front of an audience and share your message!
CON: For most people, this is the scariest part! But not to worry…
Our suggestion: Body Talk offers countless resources for delivering speeches and presentations, mastering non-verbal communication, storytelling in business, and so much more!?
