ProProcess executes novel rCB devolatilising project via EPS contracting model

ProProcess is proud to be contributing again to the circular economy drive by working with MANDINI WEALTH on a project to enhance the value of their recovered Carbon Black (rCB). Mandini Wealth produces rCB and tyre-derived fuel (TDF) by pyrolyzing end-of life tyres. The rCB produced by the pyrolysis process contains some residual volatile material, which requires removal prior to use by customers.

ProProcess is executing this project through the Engineering, Procurement and Services (EPS) model.

Engineering (E): Available test work data was used to size the devolatilizer machine ensuring sufficient residence time to remove the volatiles. Critical parameters such as equipment diameter, length, pitch, and power requirements were calculated. A high degree of adaptability was incorporated in the design of the internals of the equipment, allowing Mandini the flexibility to easily modify the equipment based on product specification.

Post client approval of the devolatiliser machine, a Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) study to optimise the flowsheet and inform the capital cost including peripheral equipment supporting the devolatilizing equipment was conducted. Additional processing steps included: feeding material into the devolatilizer, heating and cooling thereof and treating the off-gases, as well as handling and packaging the final saleable product.

The process was designed as a skid mounted solution, allowing for rapid process integration on site. The concept design was approved by Mandini and the project implementation of the commercial plant has been awarded to ProProcess.
