Proposition Announces Departure from Camden

After an incredible 18-month journey in Camden, the Proposition team will soon vacate 100 and 100A Chalk Farm Road. While it is bittersweet to leave this vibrant space that has fostered so much creativity, we are immensely proud of what we've accomplished and deeply grateful to have become part of such an inclusive and supportive community.

Our heartfelt thanks to the talented artists, collectives, partners, and collaborators who have been integral to our journey. Your generosity and trust have enabled us to showcase and celebrate truly important and impactful work.?

At Proposition, we are passionate about creating spaces for artists to create and share their work, and ensuring that creative communities are embedded in the fabric of London. Our objective, to transform vacant buildings into dynamic cultural hubs and bring art back into the heart of communities, will remain at the core of what we do.

In just 18 months, we have completely transformed the disused buildings at Chalk Farm, offering affordable studios and providing spaces for artists from a wide range of disciplines. Our programme of free public exhibitions, open studios, music events, and performances has celebrated practice in all its forms.

Since March 2023, Proposition has:

• Created 80+ affordable artist studios
• Housed over 100 artists across disciplines
• Developed a flourishing and flexible gallery?
• Established a dynamic music and performance venue
• Built a lively screening, rehearsal and performance space
• Launched a rich artistic programme of free public exhibitions and events?
• Hosted three Open Studios to showcase the works of resident artists

Our artistic programme included notable exhibitions such as Reborn by Gary March, Songs of Love, Death and Desire, and Human Nature, attracting over 2,500 visitors. Additionally, we initiated a major new commission, the Biodiversity Fingerprint, featuring a monumental artwork by Katie-Bret Day and a poignant film by William Joshua Templeton.
