Propose a solution to prevent the health effects of exposure to petroleum products

It has been established through research that exposure to petroleum products has a wide range of health issues to individuals.

In our society, attendants in filling stations are the most affected and people working within the vicinity where the product are either stored or dispensed.

Research has this to say, “Health effects from exposure to petroleum products vary depending on the concentration of the substance and the length of time that one is exposed. Breathing petroleum vapors can cause nervous system effects (such as headache, nausea, and dizziness) and respiratory irritation. Very high exposure can cause coma and death. Liquid petroleum products which come in contact with the skin can cause irritation and some can be absorbed through the skin. Chronic exposure to petroleum products may affect the nervous system, blood and kidneys. Gasoline contains small amounts of benzene, a known human carcinogen.”

I need input from professionals on how to either prevent exposure to this products or minimize the duration of exposure considering its economic implication.

This public view on this important issue is to be share with the general public and stake-holders.

Petroleum products dispensers in the filling station are the most exposed to serious health hazards.

Now as Health and safety professionals, what do we propose to solve this issue? Aside from minimizing the exposure time, what else can be done.

Please your contribution can save a life.
