Rolls are vulnerable parts in the steel rolling process. Sometimes, incorrect use can directly destroy the rolls, causing losses and inconveniences in production.
The proper use and maintenance of rolls:
- New rolls can be used normally after preheating the rollsurface (hot rolling at 70--80℃ and keeping warm for 1~2 hours; cold rolling at 30-50°C and keeping warm for 0.5 hours).
- Avoid cooling water from rushing or flowing onto the heated rolling groove.
- Turn on the cooling water before starting steel rolling. The water supply parts should be connected to the water pipes and in a good cooling state before starting production.
- During the rolling process, pay attention to the cooling situation and effect at any time, and make corresponding treatment at any time according to production needs.
- Prevent misoperation, especially accidental operation.
- When steel is stuck or piled up, stop the water immediately, quickly lift the upper roll, make the rolled material leave the roll surface, and at the same time, immediately remove the rolled material piled on the lower roll, so that the heated rolling groove is slowly cooled in the air.
- Turn off the cooling water after stopping the machine.
Reasonable use of rolls and careful maintenance, can extend the service life of the rolls, improve the pass tonnage, for the company to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
