Propelled by the best AI has to offer.

The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) has sparked conversation and, for some, raised concerns about the inevitable revolution it will bring to education and technology. With a history of progressive evolution, excellence and an outward-looking philosophy, St Hilda’s is well-positioned to continue giving our students a worldly level of distinction, propelled by the best AI has to offer.?

With the debut of OpenAI's ChatGPT, AI's increasing potential has come to people's attention worldwide. Over the last year, it has become apparent that AI is no longer a fragment of science fiction. It is normalised and prevalent in all our daily lives, including the education sector.?

?There is no denying the profound future repercussions of AI in schooling. At the speed of this new technology's evolution, AI integration will make technology easily accessible and reduce the learning curve. We encourage our teachers at St Hilda’s to stay ahead of the curve by using AI's personalised learning capabilities while considering the importance of individualisation, personalising teaching methodologies, and ethical code implications.?

At our annual Evolve the Expertise Summit, our staff learned about a leading AI framework developed by Leon Furze. Leon is a consultant, author, and PhD candidate who helps educators in schools and universities understand the practical and ethical implications of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI). Our partnership with Leon will continue as we continue to refine our GAI policies and guidelines, rethink assessment, engage in discussions on GAI and academic integrity, and explore the ethical implications of technology that has changed the educational landscape and modern workplace forever.

At St Hilda’s, we welcome AI as a potent mechanism for improving learning and teaching. This aligns with our values of prioritising the School's evolution and flawless technological unification. We believe embracing AI enhances students' learning outcomes and is consistent with our vision and value of excellence.?

However, we also recognise the difficulties and constraints posed by the application of AI in education. We firmly believe in using AI as a tool rather than a replacement for critical thinking, teamwork, creativity, and individualisation.
