EVENTS? ?|? ?CURRENT ACTION PLAN? ?|? ?RESOURCES? ?|? ?GO TO SLACK?

A very happy 2-year anniversary to the Inflation Reduction Act!?Wow, so much has happened in a short time. The IRA is the direct result of 1) tireless advocacy from the very folks in this network and across the movement and 2) barely enough pro-climate-action members of Congress to vote "YAY" on one big, ambitious climate law (thanks to VP Kamala Harris for casting the tie-breaking vote).

Politicians?just don't get how popular climate action really is—a misperception that is slowing us down (and pro-fossil fuel interests are directly investing in keeping it that way). But perhaps the tide is turning as candidates witness?the U.S. climate movement enthusiastically rallying behind the new top ticket. All that matters is that this year, the climate vote gets loud.

  • If you're already familiar with the new 2024 Election Hub and would like to encourage friends and strangers to get in on the action,?this epic article?by Climate & Capital Media is a great one to share!
  • The Climate Vote is a big production, so there are still?open volunteer roles?(thank you?for the huge response, and?hello?to our starstudded new committees making things happen behind the scenes alongside our tiny staff!).
  • And for the rest of us: happy Monday.?Add one Hour of Action to your calendar this week, and let's ramp up this momentum.

Keep scrolling for a NEW CLIMATE TOWN VIDEO (worthy of all-caps, it's spotlighting one of my favorite climate solutions), good news, and some new advocacy resources.

Hope your week is looking sunny. Cheers!

ACTION PLAN ??? Ensure we elect climate champions

To pass smart, equitable climate policies at every level of government, the U.S. needs the majority of elected officials to support climate action. We get there by helping voters identify and elect the candidates who understand the scale and urgency of the climate crisis and plan to work toward solutions. With a focus on key strategic races, we are contacting voters, supporting candidates, and getting our friends in on the action too!??

CLIMATE TOWN EPISODE??? Incentivize Sustainable Farming

New episode out now from our friends at Climate Town ! The western US is experiencing increasingly alarming water scarcity as a result of outdated farming practices and a bunch of people in the olden days calling dibs on water. Climate Town's Rollie Williams explains this better with help from John Oliver,?@westernwatergirl, Grist a ton of other smart helpful folks, and the cast of Greece. Watch the video here!

And is there actually something we can do about this? Sure is. Advocate for water conservation and sustainable farming incentives in the next US Farm Bill.?We have a new playbook for that.

As few as 10 personalized emails to an elected official are enough to put a topic like this on their radar.?It takes 15 minutes – knock this out!?

POLLS TO POLICY 101 ?? Why donating early matters

They say, “Early money is like yeast,” and it’s true: earlier donations go further to set candidates and organizations up for success. If you expect to make donations this election cycle, it pays to give now rather than add it to a to-do list for later. In the new Donate Action Playbook, see current key races and why these are strategic investments where?climate advocates can work together to support climate champions.

U.S. CLIMATE PROGRESS ?? Good climate news

Last Friday "In a significant reversal, the Biden administration announced during two closed-door meetings this week that U.S. negotiators will support limits on plastic production as part of the United Nations’ global plastics treaty... [the U.S.] had previously rejected production limits in favor of an approach focused on boosting the recycling rate and cleaning up plastic litter." Read more from Grist.
