PROMPT ENGINEERING

Prompt writing is the #1 skill you need in 2023.

Here’s your prompt writing tip:

What is the difference between zero shot and few shot prompts?

A 'zero shot prompt' requires an AI to make predictions to complete a task that it hasn’t been specifically trained to do.

It doesn’t have any prior examples of what you want so it has to make up a response based on its understanding of language and context.

That’s why it’s called ‘zero shot.

A 'few shot prompt' or 'many shot prompt' conversely is provided with several examples of what you want the AI to do.

This is a good way to control the type of output that you want and help it to match a specific style or output format.

How to construct a few shot prompt :

Include in your prompt that you will be submitting:

- Details

- Examples

- Guidelines

- Supporting information

Example of a few-shot prompt.

Suppose I want to create a blog for a client. I am going to upload these after the initial prompt:

- Brand guidelines

- Specific information to be included

- Examples of prior blogs that match the brand style

“Create a blog post on [TOPIC] for [BRAND]. I will be providing brand guidelines for you to review as well specific information to include and two sample blog posts that we really like so that you can see what we expect in terms of tone and style.”

This will make your blogs 100x better than if you zero shot prompt for a blog post on a random topic!

Once you enter your first prompt - you can submit the rest of the components by just copying and pasting them into the AI chat interface.

It will review them and create a much better output based on the provided information.
