Promoting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals

Sustainability has become a keyword in our vocabulary as we moved through the 21st century. From the perspective of our society, we can think of sustainability as the ability to exist and live life while also maintaining, or even improving, the conditions we set forth for future generations.

To do this, we can look to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development created by the United Nations, which lays out 17 Sustainable Development Goals that can guide us to make better decisions in this matter.

These goals focus on some of today's most pressing issues, including poverty, hunger, and inequality. Further, the measures laid out to tackle these issues consider other related areas, without which long-lasting change cannot be enacted, including health, education, economic growth, climate change, and environmental preservation.

You can learn more about each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, through the United Nations’ ?website.

At the DataEthics4All?? Foundation, we also strive to help move society towards sustainability and prosperity, in alignment with the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals, primarily through our STEAM in AI?? Movement.

An important part of this is the STEAM in AI?? Research and Build Program, which offers students the opportunity to gain more STEAM-related experience and skills, which will in turn help them prepare for their future careers.

We encourage students from all backgrounds to join and freely explore STEAM without any constraints, as it’s our mission to break down the existing barriers to entry and success in STEM.

The way in which students are constantly denied opportunities due to their ethnicity, gender, or economic status, not only contributes to a vicious cycle of inequality and poverty but also has a trickle-down effect on our society as a whole.

As such, the support we offer to these students can not only have an immense benefit to them but also help us create a more equitable and inclusive workforce (and society) in the future. This is how we align with several of the Sustainable Development Goals set out by the United Nations.

In particular, our mission focuses on the following goals:

  • Goal 1: Ending poverty
  • Goal 2: Ending hunger
  • Goal 3: Safeguard health and promote well-being for everyone
  • Goal 4: Safeguard inclusive and equitable education and support learning opportunities for everyone
  • Goal 5: Achieve gender equality
  • Goal 8: Encourage inclusive and sustainable economic growth, as well as decent work for everyone
  • Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries
  • Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

Considering the impact of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the rising inflation and the effects of the war in Ukraine, it’s become all the more important to focus on accomplishing these goals.

In many ways, these events have halted or even reversed the progress that had been established, so we must work even harder to ensure that our society not only recovers but is able to grow and improve.
