Promote my brand? What is it?

"Promote your brand" they say. Wondering what your own personal brand is exactly?
Unless you have a background in Marketing, it may not be intuitively obvious. Figuring out one's brand is something to think about. Deeply. Not rushing it, but taking the time to look at oneself and see what emerges.
Here are five ways to start investigating.
Best at - What are you "best at?" Is it problem solving? Taking care of customers? Analyzing data? Leading a team?
Reliable Results - In what areas do you deliver consistently reliable results?
Acknowledged for - What have others acknowledged you for in supervisory or customer feedback, performance reviews, and management recognition?
Needs - What kinds of needs are you drawn to, that you enjoy addressing, that give you a sense of fulfillment?
Demonstrated expertise in - In what areas have you been seen as the "go to" expert in X?
After all this, ask your trusted friends who know you well, both at work and outside of work. They will tell you "what you are known for."
With this input, you will be in a good position to begin developing your personal brand. Sit down with a thinking partner, and begin work on it.

5 年This is such an important message, Terrence! It's been freeing once I've been able to focus on a niche than trying to be a broad leadership coach. This focus has allowed me to help more people and have people come to me with opportunities.?
