Michael Hughes
Replen Team Fulfillment Associate at TechStyle Fashion Group; (primarily MHE) - I strive to lead by example, and treat everyone with respect.
Piggy backing on my previous posts these are all just basic notations I have made while being involved in Leadership. I find these sporadically from time to time where I have read books, or found other resources at work. As always please comment, like, and share to spread the knowledge forward.
Unselfishness - You avoid making yourself comfortable at the expense of others. Give credit to those who deserve it.
- Never use your position for personal gain at the expense of others.
- Be considerate of others.
Judgement - Think about things clearly, calmly, and in an orderly fashion so that you can make good decisions.

- Be honest with yourself about why you make a particular decision.
- Avoid favoritism.
- Try to be fair at all times and treat all things and people in an equal manner.
Initiative - Taking action even though you haven't been given direction. It means meeting new and unexpected situations with prompt action. It includes using resourcefulness to get something done without the normal material or methods being available to you.
- Work on staying mentally and physically alert.
- Be aware of things that need to be done and then do them without having to be told.

- Stop, take a breath, and realize that you have the power to control your life.
- Find a mentor to share your frustrations with and help you work through issues.
Loyalty - You are devoted to your company, to your seniors, to your peers, and subordinates.
- You should show your loyalty by never talking about seniors unfavorably in front of subordinates.
- Once a decision is made and the order is given to execute it, carry out that order willingly as if it were your own.
Knowledge - You have acquired information and you understand people. Your knowledge should be broad. In addition to knowing your job, you should know policies, procedures, and keep up with the current happenings of the company.
- Increase you knowledge by staying alert.
- Listen, observe, and find out about the things you do not understand.
- Take advantage of classes, and suggested readings.
Courage - This is what allows you to remain calm while recognizing fear. Moral courage means having the inner strength to stand up for what is right and to accept when something is your fault.
- You can control fear by practicing self-discipline and calmness.
- If you fear doing certain things required in your daily life, force yourself to do them until you can control your reaction.
Bearing - The way you conduct and carry yourself. Your manner should reflect alertness, competence, confidence, and control.
- To develop bearing you should hold yourself to the standards of personal conduct.
- Never be content with meeting only the minimum requirements.
Enthusiasm - A sincere interest and exuberance in the performance of your job. You should be enthusiastic, optimistic, cheerful, and willing to accept the challenges of the day.
- Celebrate successes.
- Understand meaning; how are we making a difference?

- Develop your tact by trying to be courteous and cheerful at all times.
- Treat others like they are part of the family.
Decisiveness - You are able to make good decisions without delay. Get all the facts and weigh them against each other. By acting calmly and quickly, you should arrive at a sound decision. You announce your decision in a clear, firm, professional manner.
- Practice being positive in your actions.
- Avoid acting half-hardheartedly or changing your mind on an issue.

6 年I love the way you laid this all out. I agree with another comment that referenced vision as a quality to have. Leaders must be able to see and hold that bigger picture while ensuring the right steps are taken along the way.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this post. While there is no recipe for a true leader, Michael Hughes hit the nail on the head about the common traits leaders share. Leaders rise in the most unexpected moments, they lead a pack through heart and example and that is what I read between the lines here. Well done, Michael.
I believe that love trumps everything in the past present and future! Random acts of kindness !!
6 年Michael Hughes... is my HERO!! I find he has " key" quality's that he plays a huge part in, but does not mention them... Not everyone can see them but I can.... I appreciate them, and He has a certain understanding that most leaders would not have a clue in what to do with, these things I see with my perspective glasses on, which often times differs from the rest... because I don't see things as they do... MICHAEL KEEP GOING ON JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!! IT'S FABULOUS, " do you see what I see".... ??? doesn't matter I see it!! Some kind if special to me... ????
