Prominence Powerhouse: Kayla Andrews

Meet our November Prominence Powerhouse, Kayla Andrews! As Provider Relations Manager, Kayla is essential in fostering collaboration and support for our members and provider partners. Her journey with Prominence Health began five years ago in our call center, where she quickly advanced to a resolution role, building strong connections with employer groups and members. Today, Kayla continues to lead with dedication and passion, and we're proud to have her as a leader on our provider relations team. Read on to learn more about Kayla!

What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare?

From an early age, I aspired to become a pediatrician, inspired by my two cousins, whom I greatly admired as Medical Assistants. Driven by a desire to advocate for those in need, I enrolled in Health Science and Health Information Management courses in high school. Through these courses, I became aware of the challenges within the healthcare system and realized that many individuals needed support beyond direct patient care.?

?Prominence Health is more than just a workplace—it feels like family. Here, people are united by a shared passion for providing exceptional patient care. Although we each bring unique experiences and backgrounds, we’re all driven by the desire to impact our members and community positively.

Are there any projects or initiatives at Prominence that you are particularly passionate about?

I’m particularly passionate about our Provider Relations team. I’m deeply invested in the department’s growth and helping team members advance. Every day, we explore new ideas that allow us to achieve the best possible outcomes for our provider partners. This includes improving communication strategies, refining processes and procedures, and optimizing onsite practices. We’re committed to delivering exceptional service to our providers and supporting our Prominence teams.

What is your proudest accomplishment so far?

My greatest achievement is simply being where I am today. My upbringing was filled with many challenges, but I managed to overcome them. I’m incredibly grateful for the love and support of those around me, especially my fiancé and two stepchildren.

What are your interests or hobbies outside of work?

Family means everything to me. We love coming together for the kids' sports events or enjoying fun weekend activities. Even a cozy day at home with close friends, good food, and drinks—just celebrating each other’s company—brings me joy. I can’t forget my two dogs, who have been with me through thick and thin; they truly are my world. Whether it’s playing fetch or taking leisurely walks, as long as I have my loved ones around, I’m happy.

What's something we'd be surprised to learn about you?

I have a deep love for softball and played all through high school. Afterward, I kept the fun going by joining friends in a co-ed league and playing in tournaments. Unfortunately, I had to hang up my glove due to a shoulder injury.

If you could have dinner with any historical figure or fictional character, who would it be and why?

I’d choose Clarissa Harlowe Barton, who founded the American Red Cross in 1881. I’d love to hear her story and learn about the experiences that inspired her to create the organization.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Remember, it’s just a bad day, not a bad life. You have your own path to pave, so enjoy the journey without comparing it to others. Find your voice and don’t be afraid to use it. Don’t worry so much about what others think or shape your path around their expectations.
