Meet our August Prominence Powerhouse, James Maronde!

James's journey into healthcare began when he moved to Appleton, Wisconsin, and quickly found his passion for making a difference. Starting his career at Anthem, James immersed himself in the healthcare industry. After nearly a year of consulting and supporting Prominence Health's initiatives, he knew joining the team full-time was the right move. Now, he thrives in a rewarding role, working with our leadership team and colleagues dedicated to improving healthcare access and quality for our members. James’s commitment to helping others is evident in everything he does, and we’re proud to have him as a leader on our operations team. Read on to learn more about James!

?The values and mission of Prominence Health resonated with me the most. The company allows everyone to grow with them as a growing health plan. As we've taken on new challenges, I have been offered many opportunities to grow myself and with my colleagues. I have advanced my skills and my career with Prominence which has been very rewarding. The opportunities are endless and the support from leadership is astounding.?

Do you have a favorite or impactful member story you can share?

When I attended a colleague's vow renewal, I met a very kind lady sitting next to me. During our conversation, she learned that I worked at Prominence and expressed how happy she was with her plan—except for a recent issue where she had been denied a procedure she needed. When I returned to the office after the weekend, I collaborated with my colleagues, and we were able to review her case and get her in for the procedure the same day, with no further disruptions to her care.

Are there any projects or initiatives at Prominence that you are particularly passionate about?

The project that stands out is our comprehensive provider data end-to-end solution. We created operational efficiencies by implementing electronic forms and workflows to manage provider data from Contracting through Credentialing and into Provider Data Management within our core claims system. This project significantly improved our provider onboarding process and the accuracy of our directories, reducing processing times from 90-120 business days to 30 business days or less.

What is your proudest accomplishment so far?

One of my proudest accomplishments was obtaining my Masters degree in Business Administration.?

Any fun facts about yourself we may not know?

Throughout my teenage years in a small farming town in Wisconsin, I raised pigs for the Future Farmers of America (FFA). These were show pigs, and I participated in many local county and state fairs with them. It was such a rewarding time in my life.

What are your interests or hobbies outside of work?

I love getting in the car and driving to new destinations or discovering places we haven't seen before. Just ask any of my colleagues about my weekend driving adventures—they truly are adventures. No distance is too far, and we always enjoy getting out and exploring the sights of Northern Nevada and Northern California.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Keep making changes to define yourself both personally and professionally. Career changes, life changes—these don’t hold you back; they make you a better person. Throughout your life and career, you’ll go through many forms of change, and that’s a good thing. We need these experiences to become the best version of ourselves.
