Prominence Powerhouse: Amy Perry

Prominence Powerhouse: Amy Perry

We’re thrilled to spotlight Amy Perry as our February Prominence Powerhouse! Amy joined Prominence nearly eight years ago as a Provider Relations Representative, focused on improving engagement with Specialists and Primary Care Providers (PCPs). Her passion for strengthening these relationships led her to her current role as Northern Nevada Market Performance Manager under the Performance Improvement team. Amy continues to collaborate with provider groups, uncover opportunities for growth, and build partnerships that enhance healthcare outcomes. Always forward-thinking, Amy leads with purpose, and her impact continues to inspire those around her. Read on to learn more about Amy!

What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare?

My inspiration to pursue healthcare came from my mom, a labor and delivery nurse for 40 years in Washington State, where I grew up. My sister and I eagerly joined her on ‘Take Your Daughter to Work’ days, spending time at the nurse’s station, holding babies, and following her around whenever possible. These experiences sparked my dream of becoming a nurse, which I began studying at the University of Nevada. While working full-time in corporate retail to pay for school, life took me in a different direction. Eventually, I had the opportunity to apply for a Provider Relations role at Prominence, offering a chance to return to healthcare in a new and unexpected way.

Why Prominence Health?

Prominence Health has given me a unique opportunity to deeply connect with the Northern Nevada community. I’m able to serve as a resource for provider groups, helping them navigate the complexities of working with health plans. I continue to choose Prominence because I’ve seen firsthand how we listen to the needs of the community and actively make improvements to our policies, procedures, and programs to better serve our customers.

Are there any projects or initiatives at Prominence that you are particularly passionate about?

I am particularly passionate about our Quality Connect Program and Total Cost Initiatives. The Quality program offers incentives for provider groups to prioritize patient care. The Total Cost of Care initiative encompasses various factors aimed at improving medical spend and delivering more intentional, customized care. I’m grateful to play a role in driving these efforts forward.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Becoming a mom and working is something I am proud of. It’s not always easy to show up 100% for your family when working full time and vice versa. Also, I have been married to my husband for 10 years and counting.?

What are some of your interests and hobbies outside of work?

I’m a mom of two—Cameron, who’s 8, and Lucy, who’s 5—so my hobbies mostly involve shuttling them around, attending endless birthday parties, and mastering the art of playing "The Floor is Lava" in my living room.

But honestly, I love snowboarding, hiking, watching sports, date nights with my husband, hosting get-togethers, traveling, and tent camping (yes, in a tent). I also play volleyball in a Sunday league and enjoy working out at Orange Theory, CrossFit and riding my Peloton. Oh, and I love coffee—probably a little too much!

What's something we'd be surprised to learn about you?

Two things I love: rap music and true crime. I’m especially into female rap artists, but I enjoy all genres of music. And when it comes to true crime—give me all the podcasts, documentaries, books, and more!

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and why?

I'd want to have dinner with Mary Berry from the original Great British Bake Off. I love to bake, and she would undoubtedly teach me some wonderful things while we enjoyed something delicious. She seems so kind and patient, and she reminds me of my late grandmother, who I was very close to.

What's a motto you like to live by?

I try to abide by The Four Agreements, a book by Don Miguel Ruiz. The agreements are:

Be impeccable with your word

Don’t take anything personally

Don’t make assumptions

Always do your best

Thank you for all you do for our providers, members and team, Amy!
