As the world continues to adapt, change, improve & become more complex so too does the world of logistics and transportation.

So much has happened to our global supply chains due to Covid, consumer demand, equipment imbalance & the resulting liner/airline service reductions - more chaos will follow & continue, are you ready?

How can our suppliers/clients cope and plan & provide realistic solutions to their customers? Are options and timelines for project completion to stakeholders/end customers now flawed? Are massive supply chain threats being considered to keep critical resource sector projects moving along and managed on time and on budget?

Is this type of crystal-ball vision available now? Things to consider if not on your logistics radar?

Difficult questions indeed. High level answers to add to your daily talks,

Add these to your your discussions with your supply chain professionals, add these to your daily meetings to better develop workable supply chain solutions, add these to difficult discussions with customers and suppliers to understand what the "big-challenge" items really are.

  • MORE DUMB QUESTIONS needed as there are many red flags and snag points I have mentioned before which can hold up shipments and break otherwise strong supply chains in a seconds notice. Open discussions must be had with all parties concerned. Customers with suppliers, customers with service providers. Honest questions, real answers. The only dumb question is one not asked and NEVER ASSUME things.
  • LISTEN TO THE ANSWERS, validate through multiple sources. This validation process will add extra intel to your decision scope and also can define weaknesses in flawed solutions. I work with and for many very intelligent people every day, sometimes the easy questions are not asked, assumptions are made.

Sometimes the question is so easy that it's actually overlooked and sometimes the end goal is such an overwhelming focus that the process to get there lacks complete planning and procedures to achieve.

  • TRANSPARENCY is always something I have been a large proponent of as it relates to customer interaction and communication. It's even more critical now working through complex project challenges whether in designing customized solutions or listening to what the service provider is telling you. With the Q&A process and by using open and honest discussions we all develop strong understanding of challenges and better developed mutual solutions.
  • REALITY as a finality. As an end thought, we all need to work together to achieve end goals. Commercial & operational. Current and future tense. Honesty & reality is always the best policy!

Without realistic planning in times like these the outcome will always be flawed and chaotic for certain.

Nothing above is anything I haven't mentioned before, driving these critical ideas home now must be everyone's goal. Nothing too complicated, simple ideas to think about!

Stay safe, ship well!
