#projectlogistics #projectcargo A few execution risks and challenges ahead in 2023 & beyond
How do we #execute & deliver success in an odd & increasingly complex post Covid world? Things have definitely changed whether we like it or not.
#risks and #challenges ?
Critical Communication across a 24/7 geographical environment. Some resource sector projects are now being managed & executed by companies utilizing out-of-country intellectual workforces in different time zones. Is this even doable? Understanding local environment, connected with the right mixture of qualified staff on the ground to manage. Understanding local procurement and purchasing mentality within various industries? Hiring locally or internationally to manage and at what cost? As we all know, one mistake in capital projects is all it takes to cause major economic & timeline impact. Companies will continue to try and learn from a reductionist model; although good on paper they are difficult to execute and hold on course and to task.
Global teams and connectedness across organizations and countries hindering commercial discussions and understanding? Similar to above, due to the complexity of challenges at hand, experience is key in successful execution on time and on budget. Close to site, local understanding with execution history in the region. The right people.
Engaging in complex transactions across multiple levels of the process - from procurement to expediting to implementation to operations to execution of ultimate delivery and post-delivery follow up, closure/reporting, accounting & payment. Everything identified or are systems and processes/procedures being constructed on route to ultimate execution? Enough understanding of the process?
Our transportation industry struggles enough in using third parties and internal processes to thoughtfully & critically define and manage complex transportation mobilizations from supplier site to pad site. Is there ever enough brain power in the room to access and implement a successful strategy? I think not.
Into 2023 and beyond I see an increasingly challenging environment developing due to the understanding required to link our customer's commercial considerations with the execution environment.
Partnering directly & openly with clients might be our best bet to ensure all voices are defined, heard, considered and implemented under favorable conditions for all.
In the end it's about successful execution in a complex business environment, bring on 2023, we will do our part!
