The Programme Management Office is a key team providing governance and programme structure across the OPSS. The team's objectives are:

  • To support OPSS to maximise the impact of its work and the utilisation of its resources;
  • To ensure the effective oversight and governance for key programmes of work.
  • To apply a consistent and proportionate approach to Programme and Project Management (PPM) across OPSS.
  • To support the Leadership Team in managing delivery and organisational risks.
  • To provide practical support to individual project teams in managing their work.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and scheduling – Implement and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling;
  • Monitoring and reporting – Establish and maintain project controls, keeping the project manager aware of the project status. Prepare project performance reports,?presenting statistics and researching new information;
  • Admin – Ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently. Manage and monitor compliance of the project with Departmental Security, Health & Safety, Equality &?Diversity, Business Continuity and Business Planning;
  • Resources – Lead a team responsible for identifying, developing and deploying resources. Manage workforce planning, providing information for effective decision making to?the Project Manager. Procurement of supplies and services related to project support within Delegated Financial Authority limits;
  • Stakeholder – Manage professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and act as lead point of contact for some external parties. Draft?and sign-off correspondence;
  • Financial control – Monitor project spend and contribute to the compilation of budgets and the development of the business case. Ensures an accurate asset register is?maintained;
  • Risks and Issues – Manage potential risk areas, working with risk managers and escalating as appropriate.

Skills & Experience

Person Specification

Essential

  • Good working knowledge or understanding of project and/or programme management tools, techniques including planning, scheduling, risk and issue management, along with partner engagement experience.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills, establishing and developing positive relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Proficient IT literacy skills, particularly MS Office suite of products specifically Word, Excel and Project.
  • Previous experience of working in a programme/project management role.?????


Salary

£30,360 - £36,525

National: £30,360 - £32,275; London: £33,570 - £36,525. The successful candidate may be eligible for a £1,500 pay enhancement subject to having a valid qualification from the list of ‘typical qualifications’ as defined in the Project Delivery Capability Framework for Project Support Officer Level 2.
