?? Project Spotlight: Delivering Excellence in Aluminum Plant Detailing ???

Project Description:

The project involved a manufacturing unit of an aluminum plant, consisting of Cold Mill, Casting, Rolling, and Finish units, with a total tonnage of 7,724 tons. Initially, the project seemed straightforward, but the complexity increased when the customer requested significant changes in the revision drawings. While changes are a natural part of any project, the scale of these revisions posed a substantial challenge for the detailing process. Despite the changes, our dedicated team stayed agile and utilized custom components and Tekla tools to deliver all submittals on time, meeting the customer’s high expectations. The project followed a tight schedule with 53 sequences as requested by the erectors, and all submittals were delivered within the stipulated time.

?Key Challenges We Overcame:

  • Crane girder redesign and rail clips modification.
  • Tie-back coordination.
  • Joist bridging. The final locations were decided after a few blocks of IFF submittal.
  • Decision on joist welding vs. Bolting on top of truss.
  • Girts were on hold and released only after the main steel was submitted to IFF.
  • Modification of all welded column gussets for a walkway.
  • Truss splice locations revised for joist clash.
  • Column splice revision for tie-back coordination.
  • Design drawing revisions which had a major impact on loads and profiles.
  • Fireproofing of steel.

SANRIA's Value Additions:

  • We raised 145 RFIs, and 134 of them were converted into Customer-RFIs.
  • Regular follow-up on RFIs and impact discussion.
  • Provided clear view representations for scope changes, revised design drawings, HOLD areas, and fieldwork steel. A total of 86 view representations created to have clear understanding on the changes with the customer.
  • Ensured all submittals were delivered as per the schedule despite the volume and priority commitments.
  • Provided BSWX as per customer requirements for every submittal with metric units from a local model.
  • Constantly monitored cost codes and notified customer of variations.
  • Discussed erection feasibility and brought it to the erector's attention.

Customer Collaboration & Satisfaction:

  • Adjusted schedule accordingly for every surprise package from the EOR.
  • Managed tie-back, crane girder, and joist coordination effectively with customer collaboration.
  • Held 78 weekly meetings that were instrumental in tracking and prioritizing project tasks.
