THE PROJECT NETWORK & London's The Cuckoo Club support Wings for Life research foundation in their mission to raise funds for spinal cord injury
EVENT DATE: 8 September 2016
THE PROJECT NETWORK and London’s The Cuckoo Club have partnered with Wings for Life, a not-for-profit spinal cord research foundation, for a summer event, 8 September 2016, in aid of raising funds for vital and life-changing spinal cord research projects around the world.
Every eight hours someone in the UK sustains a spinal cord injury and most become a wheelchair user as a result. Most commonly caused through traffic accidents, falls, illness or sport, it happens in a moment, but the impact lasts a lifetime. There is currently no medical treatment available to repair the injured spinal cord – this is something Wings for Life is determined to change.
Founded in Austria in 2004 and established in the UK in 2010, Wings for Life fund world-class scientific research and clinical trials around the globe aimed at finding a cure for spinal cord injury. Since 2004, 142 spinal cord research projects have been funded at the world’s most well-respected institutes and a number of vital breakthroughs have already been made.
Scientists agree: injured neurons can regenerate. Wings for Life therefore believe that spinal cord injury will be curable one day.
Committed to helping the life-changing work of Wings for Life, THE PROJECT NETWORK [TPN] will be co-hosting a party and networking event at the Mayfair private members club, The Cuckoo Club, this September. TPN and The Cuckoo Club will be raising money for the foundation with ticket sales and the generosity of guests on the night. Dominated by senior UK fitness industry VIPs, athletes, Wings for Life guests and supporters and close friends of all three organisations, the guest list has now been finalised.
For the kind-spirited Jin Nilsson, Director at The Cuckoo Club, hosting the event in aid of the charity: “I’m a big fan of Wings for Life and honoured to be part of this charity event with the whole Team.”
Hannah Bostock, Partnerships Manager at Wings for Life UK, told us: “It is fantastic to be working with The Project Network and The Cuckoo Club on this exciting summer event. Spinal cord injury can happen to anyone at any time and the vital funds raised from this will directly impact our work to find a cure. Thank you to everyone who will be attending and donating on the night – your support really will take us a step closer to finding a cure.”
Managing Director at the city-based agency, TPN, Mel Spooner added “Working directly in the fitness and sporting space and alongside athletes, we have so much respect for both the strength and power and fragility of the human body. As two long-time best friends as well, Siobhan and I were blown over by the story behind the foundation and the lengths that two friends [the co-founders of Wings for Life] will go for one another, so we couldn’t help but get involved. We’re extremely proud to join forces with Wings for Life and Jin this year to bring you our annual charity bash.”
Entertainment shall be courtesy of TPN Resident DJs and friends of Wings for Life, plus special cameos from international artists at six15 productions.
