Job Title: Project Manager - Transportation Engineering

Salary: $85,000 - $115,000
Position Summary: The Project Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing transportation engineering projects. This role involves managing project design and/or construction, ensuring projects meet client requirements, and maintaining project timelines and budgets. The Project Manager will coordinate with a team of engineers and serve as the primary client liaison for government clients including the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), Department of Public Works (DPW), and various municipalities. Additionally, the role includes mentoring less experienced engineers and developing a cohesive project team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Design budgets, schedules, plans, and specifications. Manage project communications and documentation to ensure project objectives are met.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, motivate, and develop staff, including junior team members. Ensure project team productivity and development.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate and review assigned projects and those of the project team for completeness and accuracy.
- Technical Tasks: Perform technical discipline tasks including research, reports, design, specification, and plan preparation to ensure cost-effective project execution.
- Client Relations: Act as the primary client liaison, managing schedules, budgets, and scope of work to ensure client satisfaction.
- Engineering Design: Provide engineering design and supervision for highway design projects including roadway reconstruction, bridge approaches, storm sewers, sidewalks, ADA ramps, guardrails, pavement markings, and asset management.
- Design Oversight: Oversee and perform engineering designs including geometric alignments, profiles, cross-sections, construction documents, and maintenance of traffic details. Utilize advanced MicroStation/GEOPAK processes.
- Quality Control: Perform internal quality control to ensure designs, plans, and calculations are complete and accurate throughout all phases of design and plan production.
- Administrative Duties: Assist Senior Project Managers with various project administrative tasks. Participate in business development activities and assist in creating technical proposals and presentations.
- Technical Expertise: Serve as a technical expert on key transportation projects.
Education and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Civil and Environmental Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years serving clients on a variety of transportation projects, including INDOT projects.
- Experience in overseeing and performing engineering designs including geometric alignments, profiles, cross-sections, construction documents, and maintenance of traffic details.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- At least 7 years of experience working with clients on transportation-specific projects, including INDOT projects.
